Sir,
I have read the recent publication on metal concentration in soil with great interest. [1] Rathod et al. has reported that, "reversibility in FEV 1 levels or percentage change in FEV 1 and serum IgE levels are promising lab parameters to distinguish these two conditions. [1]" I have some points for discussion. First, there may be some problems in the laboratory analysis. The authors have used the counting under the microscope technique for cell count. This is an out-of-date technique, with high variation. Therefore, the new automated counting technique is implemented for present use. [2] Second, the IgE level may be a response to the parasitic infection or other allergic conditions, which are not ruled out in this study. As the authors note, further researches are required.
